CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -- At least four suspects await charges in connection with a SWAT team raid conducted in Cambridge on Wednesday night.
According to reports from the Cambridge Police Department, tactical officers executed three search warrants at an apartment complex on Foster Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Twelve suspects were taken into custody at the scene, including three who attempted to flee the area on foot. Officers reportedly seized a large amount of crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash from the suspects and inside the complex. A search by K-9 Luna also resulted in a vehicle seizure outside the premises.
Officials say a long-term investigation began after officers observed a high volume of traffic to the apartment complex by known and suspected drug users. One of the suspects arrested Wednesday is believed to be a major supplier of cocaine and heroin to the area.
Officers said that three of the suspects allegedly attempted to convey crack cocaine, pills and methamphetamine into the Guernsey County Jail after being incarcerated. Four suspects remain in custody, pending further investigation, but others are expected to be indicted by the Guernsey County grand jury at a later date.
