Former Noble County resident awaits action by Columbus prosecutors
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The case of former choir director at an Ohio high school, accused of soliciting sex and naked pictures from teenage boys in exchange for positions in the state fair's choir, remains in limbo.
Zachary Ruppel, a former Noble County resident,  was arrested in July on charges of compelling prostitution and disseminating harmful material to minors.  Those charges were dropped, supposedly to give prosecutors a chance to submit the charges to a grand jury.  Four months later, no action has been taken on Ruppel's case and officials aren't saying if or when any action will be taken.  Columbus police say that the orginal charges involved two boys, ages 15 and 17.   Ruppel was the choir director at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, but has been relieved of those duties.  Part of his position included recommending students for the annual state fair's choir.
