Minor injures reported in numerous weather related crashes
BELMONT CO. Ohio--Bad weather and slippery road conditions are being blamed for several accidents on Interstate 70 in Belmont Co Saturday evening.
Multiple crashes  took place  roughly between mile marker 202 and 208 on I-70 east and west bound.
Reports  say that at least eight vehicles were involved in the accidents between the Morristown and Barnesville exits.
One crash involved a tractor trailer which hit a slick spot on the road and lost control, turning the trailer on its side.
After emergency crews arrived on the scene, another car lost control on the slippery roads and reportedly crashed into one of the fire rescue vehicles.
Sources say it all started around 5:30 p.m Saturday when a snow squall hit the area, reducing  visibility, leaving roads icy and snow covered in spots.
Portions of I-70 east and west bound, reportedly were closed to traffic for more than three hours while crews cleared the scenes.
The crashes remain under investigation by the St Clairsville post of the State Highway Patrol,,,,only minor injuries were reported..
